It is also popularly called wild garlic, forest garlic or forest leek and has achieved high esteem in phytotherapy.

Wild garlic is a perennial plant growing up to 40 cm tall. The root is bulbous, the stem straight, the leaves mostly ground and petiolate, coated with cuticle on the surface, so the leaves are smooth and bright. The flowers of bear garlic are white, small and often form an inflorescence in the shape of a perianth. The fruit is a capsule. The plant's native habitat is the Caucasus and Eastern Europe, but over time its geophyte has spread throughout Europe and Asia.

Bear garlic has a beneficial effect on the health of the heart and vascular system, supports circulatory functions, contributes to the maintenance of normal cholesterol metabolism. It promotes the removal of heavy metals from the body, affects bowel function.

Bear garlic was rediscovered by modern cuisine several years ago and can now be purchased in the form of a variety of products. Its advantage is its garlic aroma. Interestingly, after use, the user does not smell it as much as after using kitchen garlic.

It is suitable for breastfeeding mothers who do not want to deny themselves the garlic aroma (garlic can cause unpleasant bloating for the baby).
